Muzaffarnagar: A local businessman reportedly attempted suicide by consuming poison for “being constantly harassed by a pawnshop” in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh. Police said it was a monetary dispute and are investigating the matter.
A commission agent by profession, Sanjay Bajaj, had taken out a loan with interest and was being harassed by a relative after failing to repay the amount, sources said.
The incident took place on Friday evening in the area of ​​the Adarsh ​​Mandi police station in Shamli. He was rushed to a local hospital where his health was reportedly stable.
His wife, however, alleged that the police failed to take appropriate action and favored the pawnshop.
