Unable to repay loan, lender sets man’s house on fire

Ahmedabad: In another shocking incident, three loan sharks allegedly burned down the house of a 40-year-old man in the early hours of Friday.

A complaint was filed by Satyavan Singh Rajput, who is a resident of Chainpur. He claimed to have taken Rs 2.60 lakh from Soorajpal Singh, Sundar Singh Rajputand Anil Yadavthree years ago, India time reported.

Satyavan said in the FIR that he had already given them Rs 3.50 lakh but they were asking for an additional Rs 7 lakh. They allegedly assaulted him in December because he was unable to pay. Satyavan had received a number of broken bones.

The accused arrived at Satyavan’s residence at 4am on Friday and allegedly assaulted him and set fire to his residence. The main entrance to the house and many things were destroyed in the fire.

Satyavan called the police control room and then filed a complaint with the Sabarmati police department.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a 25-year-old woman on Friday filed a complaint against her in-laws at the Chandkheda police station, alleging cruelty. In her complaint to the police, the woman said her in-laws did not feed her and when she contracted the coronavirus. She further alleged that they left her alone and refused to seek treatment for her.

According to police, the woman said she had been staying at Sakhi One Stop Center on the campus of Asarwa Civil Hospital for two days.

In her complaint to the police, the victim indicated that she had met her husband through a matrimonial site. Both were married on December 9, 2021 in a temple. After the wedding, she began to stay with her husband in Motera village.
